U.S. Announces Preliminary Results of Anti-Dumping Duty Review on Stainless Steel Bars from India
The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has released the preliminary results of the administrative review of anti-dumping duties (AD) on stainless steel bars imported from India. The investigation covered the period from February 1, 2023, to January 31, 2024.
According to the DOC’s findings, certain Indian companies exported stainless steel bars to the U.S. at prices below fair market value during the review period. The preliminary weighted average dumping margins are as follows:
Atlas Stainless Steel Private Limited, Astra Bright LLP, Bahubali Steel Industries, and 6 other companies: 30.92%
Ambica Steels Limited, Astra Bright LLP, and 6 other companies: 15.46%
Amol Inox Limited: 0%
Customer evaluation
Additionally, the DOC intends to terminate the review for Bansal Bright Bars Pvt. Ltd. and Chandan Steel Limited, as these companies had no shipments of stainless steel bars to the U.S. during the investigation period.
The final results of the review are expected to be announced within 120 days of the preliminary determination.
This decision reinforces the U.S. government’s commitment to enforcing fair trade practices in the stainless steel industry.
Importers of stainless steel bars from India should be aware of potential duty adjustments once the final ruling is issued.
