Tata Steel Implements Innovative Heat Recovery System at Ferrochrome Plant
Mumbai, India | May 30 – Tata Steel has initiated a strategic partnership with Comfit Enersav Private Limited and Yantra Harvest to deploy a waste heat recovery system at its Asansol ferrochrome facility. This collaboration represents a significant step in industrial energy optimization.
Project Specifications:
System Implementation
Comfit Enersav and Yantra Harvest will jointly engineer the heat recovery solution. The system will be installed at Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys & Minerals production site.

Substantial reduction in CO₂ emissions
Enhanced energy utilization efficiency
Projected annual cost savings of €300 million
Technical Process
The recovery mechanism operates through:
Capturing thermal energy from smelting exhaust
Redirecting recovered heat to ore drying processes
Minimizing dependence on conventional furnace oil
